The FLAVA Camp Story
Three Days. One Community. Endless Memories.
What started as an idea to bring people together through food became three unforgettable days of cooking, laughter, learning, and connection.
Across the camp, more than 60 people joined us to cook alongside professional chefs, try new foods, build confidence in the kitchen, and spend quality time with others in our community.
From our Mandem Session led by MasterChef contestant Lemford, to our family Plantain Papi cooking experiences, and finally our partnership with JNR Chef, every day reminded us why FLAVA exists: to bring people together around food.

60+ People. 3 Days. One Big FLAVA Family.
Over three days, FLAVA welcomed more than 60 children, parents, and community members through our doors, creating opportunities for families to cook, learn, and connect together.
Across the camp, families spent an estimated 15+ hours engaged in positive, screen-free activities, replacing isolation and distractions with conversation, teamwork, creativity, and fun. Parents and children cooked side-by-side, learned new skills, tried new foods, and shared experiences that many told us they don't often get the chance to enjoy together.
More than just recipes were created. New friendships were formed, confidence grew, conversations started, and families left with memories they could take home long after the food had been eaten.
FLAVA x Friends
One of the things we're most proud of at FLAVA is working alongside incredible people who share our belief that food can bring communities together.
During our recent camp, we partnered with Ledford from MasterChef, who hosted a special session for 10 young men from our community. The boys learned how to make fresh pasta completely from scratch, creating dishes including feta ravioli with jerk pulled beef, spinach and chicken tortellini, and fettuccine with jollof sauce. More than just a cooking lesson, the session gave the boys an opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills, and spend quality time together in a positive environment.
We also teamed up with Plantain Papi, whose mission is to showcase plantain as the next great superfood. Our families had an amazing time creating cheesy stuffed plantain meatballs and plantain churros, discovering just how versatile, nutritious, and delicious plantain can be. The session was packed with creativity, laughter, and plenty of new flavours.
To round off the week, we were incredibly grateful to JNR Chef, who generously provided 10 cooking boxes for our families. Using the boxes, families worked together to prepare delicious meals, with some making pasta and meatballswhile others created chicken kebabs with pilau rice. The boxes helped make quality family cooking experiences accessible, fun, and memorable for everyone involved.
These partnerships represent what FLAVA is all about—bringing together passionate people, inspiring role models, and local communities to create experiences that go far beyond the food on the plate.

Mission
At FLAVA, our mission is to bring families together through food, conversation, and shared experiences. We create fun, hands-on cooking sessions that help parents and children strengthen relationships, build confidence in the kitchen, and develop a healthier understanding of food. In a world full of distractions, we believe one meal can spark meaningful connection.
At FLAVA, we believe food is simply the starting point. Every session is designed to help families spend quality time together, build confidence, learn practical life skills, and create meaningful conversations that often get lost in the busyness of everyday life. Whether it's trying a new recipe, sharing a laugh, or learning something new about each other, our goal is to create moments that bring families closer together.
More than just cooking
Vision
We envision a future where family connection is a normal part of everyday life, not a luxury. A future where parents and children regularly share meals, meaningful conversations, and positive experiences together. Through food, education, and community, FLAVA aims to build stronger families, healthier habits, and more connected communities—one meal, one conversation, and one family at a time.

The Family Connection Gap
Many families live under the same roof but rarely get the chance to truly connect. Between school, work, phones, tablets, and busy routines, meaningful family time can easily be pushed aside.
Yet when we asked young people what they wanted more of, the answer was clear: more time with family, more conversation, and more opportunities to do things together.
FLAVA was created to help bridge that gap—creating spaces where families can reconnect, communicate, and make memories that last.
The Table Is Waiting

Every conversation starts somewhere.
Every relationship grows through time spent together.
Every family deserves moments that bring them closer.
At FLAVA, we're creating those moments—one meal, one conversation, and one family at a time.
