This Black History Month FLAVA session brought families together through the shared joy of making beignets — a dish rooted in culture, history, and togetherness. Parents and children worked side by side, mixing, shaping, and frying, while conversations flowed naturally about heritage, memories, and the importance of moving forward together.

It was messy, joyful, and completely screen-free — a space where history wasn’t delivered as a lesson, but experienced through food, laughter, and connection. Beignets became more than a recipe; they became a bridge between generations.

Because Black history isn’t just something we learn…
it’s something we make, share, and pass on. 🖤🍩

“Cooking beignets together gave us proper time to connect. No phones, just us.”

“It was fun, messy, and we actually talked as a family.”

“I loved learning about our culture through food — it felt natural.”

“Best part was doing something together and eating what we made.”
